OT: hanging paragraph in email message body

vim doesn't much like * as the list marker though:

 * Here's an example of what vim does to a long line I started with an
 * asterisk.

It thinks the asterisks are part of a C comment, I believe. It should be
posible to change this, but it behaves much better with -:

 - Here's an example of what vim does to a long line I started with a
   hyphen.
