Nope; you should be able to press Alt-F2 to switch to the second
console, run 'modprobe ata_piix', switch back with Alt-F1, and keep
going.
Could you please send me the output of 'cut -f1,2 /proc/bus/usb/devices'
run on the second console? It shouldn't be too much to transcribe.
Alternatively, if you get the Ubuntu installation up and running, I'd
like the output of 'lspci' and 'lspci -n'.
