No IP after net install

Hi
I just installed ubuntu on my laptop using the netinstall. Things worked
great until the machine had to reboot. It did but when it had started
ubuntu I can't get a IP address via dhcp. So I can't complete the
install. 
My pcmcia netcard gets detected and I can assign and ip adress to it
manually, but I get nothing from dhclient.

I know this isn't much info, but it's all I can think off.
