The only reason why they can come out differently is if mdetect is
installed or not, or the mouse is plugged or not.
At first install we ensure that mdetect is installed. If the user does
an expert install and later on remove mdetect and install
xserver-xfree86, the config can be different but:
a) he is using an expert install and he is supposed to know what he is
~ doing.
b) mdetect is recommended. meaning that using any tools (!= dpkg) will
~ show it.
The same is true if he does a reconfiguration. Is mdetect installed, is
the mouse plugged.. etc.. etc..
In no case we can know if the user unplugged the mouse ;)
