Missing /dev entries for harddrive during install

Hi,
just wanted to let you know that i'm experiencing the following problem 
while installing ubuntu.

To sum it up:
When running in expert mode the installer complains about some 
missing via and ide modules, and therefore(?) fails to recognise
my harddrive, the installer is able to write to the partition-
table but fails to create the filesystem.
