I just uploaded a new version of hal (0.2.92-1ubuntu13) which fixes
https://bugzilla.ubuntulinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1450.

According to the debug logs, it is very likely that you encountered
the same bug. Can you please upgrade the hal package and try again?
