See below. Don't worry, the slowness is not a bug; I have never
managed to get a faster version of nv in either Warty or Sid. nvidia
is about two times faster and video playback rocks with it. I had used
it for quite a long time, but the new 6xxx builds are way too buggy to
be useful for day-to-day work.

I'm afraid it got broken. With older versions, I got:

It did not contain 1280x1024, but at least it correctly detected the
name and frequencies of my LCD.
