The driver works well on my TNT2. It's still too slow to watch
fullscreen movies (I need the nvidia driver for that), but at least xv
now works again.

$ sudo xresprobe nv
res: 1280x1024 1280x960 1152x864 1024x768 832x624 800x600 720x400 640x480
The resolutions look very good; is it normal that it does not spit out
any id and freq?
