If you have a USB mouse, you've probably been bitten by the installer
X mouse configuration bug.

Open up /etc/X11/XF86Config as root, and remove any entries for
"Generic Mouse" *IF* there's entries for "Configured Mouse".

Once you do this, acceleration / sensitivity adjustment should work
(It does here anyway since doing that...) and will fix a few other
problems you may be having mouse-wise.
