I hope not, remember ALSA isn't available on anything but Linux
distributions (afaik). As such, some programs still only support the
OSS interface, because unlike ALSA it actually works on other *nix
platforms (such as FreeBSD). I know the number of those programs is
dwindling, but...

It's just really annoying to me that everyone think's ALSA is so
great, and then they forget that it's not available for our other Unix
friends :(
