small bug in OO writer - spelling (english) and firewall configuration?

Hello All!
I just installed Ubuntu and really like what I see so far. After booting with
the parameters "pci=noacpi noapic" my laptop booted up perfectly.
There is a small issue with Open Office writer. I have the English language
pack installed, but when I choose to spell check, or auto-spell check, the
words are never checked, they all come back as OK.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Also, does Ubuntu come with some sort of firewall configurator? That would be
really handy. I know I can always install something via APT, just wondering if
one shipped with Ubuntu already.
Oh, and one small thing, I can't install frozen-bubble via apt, even when I
included the 'universe' section in my sources list! How am I supposed to get
through all the meetings I have today? :)
Thanks so much for everyone's work on this distribution. It's really clean,
functional and a great distribution so far.
