x configuration

I just reinstalled ubuntu and got a nice working system, but I came
across some small issues with X configuration.

1) it asked me to mannually choose the driver version of my video card.
lshw says:

*-display UNCLAIMED
             description: VGA compatible controller (VGA)
             product: TGUI 9660/938x/968x
             vendor: Trident Microsystems
             physical id: 8
             bus info: pci at 00:08.0
             version: d3
             size: 4MB
             clock: 33MHz
             capabilities: vga
             configuration: irq=201

It detected the model correctelly but I`m not sure this board has 4mb, I
thought it have only 2mb. The trident board is not mine, a friend
borrowed me because my video board has burned. The config screen
defaults to the vesa driver, but I know it also works with `trident`,
which should be (but I never tested) optimal. Since I don`t care about
getting the best possible video performance, I just hit <enter> and go
with vesa anyway.

2) after the config was done, x started with an 800x600 24bits
resolution, which is far annoying for use with gnome. The config file
has some strange repeated entries. I edited it mannually to 16bit
1024x768 and it`s working fine. All displays (all dephs) had a strange
configuration for the `Modes` entry:

Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "1024x768" "1024x768" "1024x768"
"1024x768" "832x624" "800x600" "800x600" "800x600" "800x600" "720x400"
"720x400" "640x480" "640x480" "640x480" "640x480" "640x480"

3) all those issues, I guess, seems to be related to an incorrect
detection of the video card. but the last issue will probably affect all
non-US users. I choosed `br-abnt2` keyboard layout in the installation
and the console works with this configuration, but X is configured to
the default:
	Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
        Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
        Option "XkbLayout" "us"
I expected it to work with the same configuration as the console,
specially because the gnome kbd applet is buggy and annoying from my
experience. Again, a little modification in the config files and all is
working nice, but unexperienced users probably won`t figure out those
issues.

Thanks for the great distro!
