Hi,
Have been trying to install Ubuntu on a:
Dell Inspiron 8100 (512M)
Nvidia Gforce Go 2
Wacon graphire pen + ps2 mouse
Knoppix does the trick (as long as i don't try to use sound on the
2.6.8-1 kernel :-( )
Currently i'm using the latest Debian testing (no sound and with the
nv driver) and all runs ok (even got java running with Eclipse M3.1) .
This implies that the machine is ok and all hw supported as such (the
latest 2.4 kernel also works for sound).
Now on to Ubuntu.
1. Starting in the export mode shows me the Installer main menu. After
1-2 secs the keyboard freezes and i have to turn the machine of
completely. No way of moving to another console either.
2. Starting it up 'normally' puts me in the Choose language screen and
also freezes me out.
I'm not sure what is going on but this is not what i expected. If
there is anyone with the same experience (and a solution) please don't
hesitate.
TIA,
Fermin DCG
