I was thinking of it as a vendor-supplied Crude Hack:-) Not something 
for the user to do.

I noticed that it got implemented after I was asking about doing some of 
those same things, and you told me how to specify the proxy. Some of my 
extensions to that idea worked, some didn't and I offended pxelinux with 
too-long lines.
