Some distros put a symlink /dev/cdwriter pointing to your cdrom if it's
actually a writer. It seems that some burning software search for that,
so IMHO is a good idea to make this link by default. SuSE, and possibly
other distros too, makes a /mnt/cdwriter or /media/cdwriter mount point
instead of /media/cdrom if you have a burner. This makes easier to
distinguish different cdrom units if the user happen to have both a
writer and a normal cdrom (better than cdrom0 and cdrom1).
A nice idea is to display an CD icon in computer:/// for cdrom volumes
when they're not mounted (i guess the same problem happen with floppies,
but I don't have one in my box). Is this fixable in Ubuntu or should I
file a feature request to gnome?
