Permissions, perahaps? Cant read vfat partition...

I installed ubuntu successfully the other day. I have only one issue
that involves being able to read files and folders on my windows fat32
partition - namely my mp3s. I can mount the partition but not move or
play the files. I have made a root account and can do everything fine
as root, but as user it shows the files as unknown types in nautilus.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem for me?

Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
