euro support in ubuntu

We're going to fully switch to UTF-8 in our next release, the HoaryHedgehog.

I'd really recommend trying it now - I haven't used a non-UTF-8 mode for
ages now (but we chose not to switch for WartyWarthog because we wanted lots
of time to really deeply test it).
