hi,
installing my old tecra today i encountered the following problems:
second stage install hung at reboot, grub required adding pci=noacpi to
the kernel line to do the first boot (needed to add it later
to /boot/grub/menu.lst too).
sound didnt work, i figured out that the built in intel810 based
softmodem was detected as soundcard before the snd-ymfpci module was
loaded.
sudo echo snd-intel8x0m >> /etc/hotplug/blacklist
...didn't prevent it from being loaded !!
sudo mv /lib/modules/2.6.8.1-3-386/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0m.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.8.1-3-386/kernel/sound/pci/snd-intel8x0m.prevent &&
sudo echo snd-intel8x0m >> /etc/hotplug/blacklist
...seems the only working solution which is very odd but works.
is there a more sane way to prevent modules from being loaded if
blacklisting obviously fails (probably changing the load order would
also be enough) ?
ciao
