horay woes

Thanks for the quick response.

I must have something different going on as I have /dev/dsp.  Sound was
working fine before in warty.  Now I don't get system notifications and
some apps (mozilla-java) don't play sound anymore.  I can play mp3
through rhythmbox though.  I noticed that there is no alsa-config
utility, so I'm not sure that it is properly configured anymore.  A
alsa-ctl restore gives a "No soundcards found..." error.

I guess I need to file a bug in bugzilla, but I'd be interested in any
ideas on how to troubleshoot this.
