for those wanting more control on ripping and encoding=>

for ripping i suggest using cdparanoia. the downside is that it is
comand line but it is very secure and gives u best rips. maybe u can
find some frontend for this. grip is one of them.

for encoding u can use oggenc. get the latest ones at
www.rarewares.org

for all xmms troubles=>
u ppl can also try the bmp: beep media player. its an xmms fork with
more active development.
