Never did like totem:) xine is the way to go!
I've reinstalled my system several times and *Never* had any problems
for video, I stay clear of rhythmbox like a plague.

Hrm, dmix has always caused me more problems, choppy sound and the
flash plugin for browsers doesn't appear to understand it.
