I don't think it actually mentions using totem-xine over
totem-gstreamer....maybe that was my problem with playing WMV.  I use
Snapstream's BeyondTV on my server (yes it runs Windows right now) and like
to play recorded TV shows over my local network, but they're encoded in WMV
to save space.  I'm still messing with it at this point, seeing if I can get
something to work.  I think I saw something about a mozilla plugin somewhere
too.

The restricted formats link shows how to add the respository containing
w32codecs which removes most/all video/audio playback issues, use totem-xine
over totem-gstreamer too:) totem should be setup to play the video files on
double-click.
Can't take that long to install or just get the w32codecs package then dplg
-i <packagename> on the computers you're setting up.
