hi there. i just worked out how to print multiple pages per sheet
within open-office. you have to go to file -> page preview (i'm using
the german internalisation, so it may be called differently).

within page preview, you can organise your document in rows and columns
just as you like. and you'll find an option to print the actual page
preview. for example if you want your document to be 2/1 and you hit
the print (actual page view) button it will work - at least it did for
me.

however, i'm looking for a solution on how to print multiple pages like
2/1 or 4/1 from any pdf-viewer. neither gpdf nor xpdf seem to have this
feature implemented yet :(
