Matt,

in regards to those new packages for Hoary, do you know whether an updated version of the debian-installer will be used too?

I have a problem that none of my (p-ata/ide) cd-roms is detected by the ubuntu-installer and therefore i cannot install ubuntu on my machine. however, using the debian-(net)installer from like 2-3 weeks ago worked perfectly to install debian, but I'd prefer having ubuntu on my machine sooner or later.

There are other people that reported that error, namely:

Yes, we will import new packages into Hoary.

You could do that as well. You could also install the binary, either with
apt or dpkg, just remember not to leave the entry in your sources.list if
you add it temporarily.
