DVD - DriveReady SeekComplete Error

Yeah, I got that much. I'm pretty much decided it's broken, I'd just
like the reassurance of knowing that the `failed to load module
toshiba-acpi' message at boot is a result of the broken drive or
unrelated, and not the reason the drive isn't working. Just so I
don't replace it unnecessarily.
When I remove the drive and replace it with the floppy disk drive
(which works) I still get the above message at boot.
Isn't toshiba_acpi likely to be the driver module for the DVD? (which
is detected as a toshiba, i can't tell from looking at it what it
really is because it's covered by the Dell slot drive module thing)
Wouldn't that failing to load cause it not to work?
