Making inetd listen on localhost only

Hi,
I am using http://hotwayd.sourceforge.net/ on my Ubuntu system. It
requires an /etc/inetd.conf entry for pop3 port 110 to function.
I also modified /etc/hosts.deny and .allow to let only localhost.
But now, port 110 is open on my system.
Is there a way to run inetd services only for localhost and keep the ports
closed to the outside?
Regards,
Ecmel
