Thanks Jan! That's the theory I've had in mind for some time.
Unfortunately recovering from surgery and preparing for another while
on disability, really inhibits my technology purchases. I think this
is exactly what I'm going to need to do though in the future.

Has anyone else had major problems with WD drives in the last year?
I've been very happy with them for many years, but I've had 4-5
failures in the last year (all on different systems) and it's getting
really old, really fast. Any thoughts on which brands are high up on
the reliability scale these days?  (again, feel free to reply off-list
if necessary).
