Guide for installing IMAP services

I was wondering if anyone could point me to some good resources for
getting an IMAP server gong.

My situation is this.  I've just got a regular broadband account.  No
domain name or anything.  I'd like to have my email fetched from my ISP
account (via POP3) and automatically feed into IMAP.  I'd also like to
be able to filter according to certain rules.  I don't know much about
how mail delivery works under unix.  I've tried to follow some IMAP
tutorials but didn't have much luck.  

Can anyone point me to some good resources that explain how to set this
up?
