Hi Allen. Which Thunderbird did you install? (the file from
mozilla.org, via Synaptic)

I've been running it just fine for weeks. I used the one in the
repositories. Search for just "thunderbird" and you should find
"mozilla-thunderbird" in the main Ubuntu repo. Version number is
"0.8-2ubuntu2".
