Failure to boot into second stage

i had the same problem recently with an old bx board and a 8Gb harddrive.
the setup went fine, but upon restart it would refuse to boot (sorry,
can't remember the exact error)

what happened was that although the setup recognized my whole hdd, i
then realized that by using bios autodetect funcion and lba mode on, it
recognized my hardrive as 500Mb or so! :o

disabling lba mode in the bios worked for me, hope it helps.

Cheers,
João Inácio
