"X" cursor stays after desktop loads

yes it's definatly been covered on the mailing list before.  This is a 
hardware cursor showing as well as the working software one.

STFW for detail on how to fix ;-)  then if a faq or how-to isn't posted 
on the wiki consider adding one to make it easier for people to find 
this answer in the future
