Wireless thinkpad

I've just installed Ubuntu on my A31p.
The install was surprisingly simple, except for one small anomaly..
the prism wireless card (inbuilt).
It "seems" to get signal as it picks up dns stuff from my AP, but for
some reason doesn't get an IP address.
The laptop is dual boot so when I boot into windows I get the IP
address no problem at all..

Its quite confusing.. any ideas what I've got set wrong?
Oh and I have noticed an error when its booting, that says something
about multicasting.. where should I look to track this error down?
