mail formats

Hi,
With a nice fresh install I have trouble importing mail (and contacts)
from my old evolution folder. Specifically, the inbox which is not in
mbox format but one of the others. Can't remember what it's called. The
folder contains the subfolders with cur, new and tmp, each with
individual files for the mails.

I seem to remember there are tools to convert between formats but can't
for the life of me remember their names, any tips?
