Downloading the package direct from Sun (the binary, not the RPM) is 
probably still the best way to go.  I've never had any luck with 
pre-packaged .deb files available off of the servers, though I once did 
roll my own package.  Unfortunately, when I was messing around with X 
that last time, I lost everything, including that package.  *shrug*

One thing that they get wrong consistently on help websites is the 
creation of the symbolic link.  It should read:

computer@/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins - # ln -s /usr/lib/(java 
directory)/plugins/.../gcc32_610/libjavaplugin_oji.so libjavaplugin_oji. 
  Otherwise Firefox won't recgonize it.
