gnome-panel freezes after upgraded

Hi list,

Today I upgraded gnome-panel to version 2.8.1-ubuntu3. The upgrade went 
seamlessly. However, after reboot the top panel seems now like frozen. I 
mean if I click on it, right or left, nothing happens. Moreover, I don't 
have any applet. I only see the two menus and three icons, nothing more. 
ps shows me the applets running though (like applet-clock). As for the 
bottom panel, it seems to run properly, except the task-bar (or whatever 
you call it) which is reduced to half the space it could use.

Does someone has a solution? or the same problem? Or, how could I 
downgrade to a previous version of gnome-panel?
