how to disable the famd deamon

Hmm, actually famd should work fine and I think GNOME uses it to
monitor the state of directories and files, but for testing you could
just remove the 'fam' package. It should not have any dependencies
that prevent it's removal.

But even if that works, please file a bug about this.
