Just tried that and when I opened a new terminal, I got the following message:

export LESSOPEN="| /usr/bin/lesspipe %s";
export LESSCLOSE="/usr/bin/lesspipe %s %s";

The functionality didn't change. Doh!

While there may be a really simple way to enable this, Patrick's (Mr.
Slackware) script is fairly lengthy. I don't know enough about shell
scripts to know if that makes it any better or smarter though.
