I have to agree with you there... I installed mondo-mindi, and removed
them right away bc of version numbers, mainly because I need features
supported in the 2.x version (better DVD backups, in particular). Also,
other pkgs are lagging behind (xchat comes to mind, v. 2.0.8 where 2.4.x
is out).
I am in a bind as I would rather use pkgs from unstable debian, but yet
unstable debian dont have gnome 2.8 yet (only in experimental), and
ubuntu's gnome 2.8 has been rock solid for me ever since the first
preview.
I guess what I am trying to say is maybe ubuntu would benefit to have
more updated packages, as it is more a desktop distro than anything
else.
