Well for my perspective I like the artwork , however I am now faced with a serious issue. I have been pushing Ubuntu to my employer who are a seriously conservative accounting firm, and i was winning with the concept of it on a desktop, as we deliver most of our apps and mail via Citrix it would make an easy win.

This is now not the case, i cannot demostrate this to my management because i cannot trust that something like this wont happen again.

We have operations in India and the Middle East - these images, as nice as they are, are not remotely culturally acceptable in those regions and thus i cannot use them. Sure i can change them but there is no guarantee that this cannot happen again.

Im not about to throw the baby out with the bathwater, i like ubuntu and will continue to support it and distribute it BUT i now have to warn people about the splash screen which i dont like having to do.

Sorry but this must be removed as a default, it makes the lives of people like me who push linux on their corporate masters that much harder and it can be seen as offensive to large groups of people. There are reasons why OS'es do not use people in their graphics you know.
