Ubuntu will not install

I have an older box 466Mz, 256 meg of memory, lots of disk.  When I try
to install Ubuntu, it goes through about 25-30% and then I get the
following error:

	debootstrap (program exted with an error (return value 139) 

It lists a place where the error log is.  The problem is, how do I
access it, I can't seem to get the Ubuntu live CD to run even though the
Install CD will work.

Any ideas?
