OT: recommend fast 2D card?

I've always found the nVidia cards to offer excellent 2D performance.
Are you using the slow build-in XFree "nv" driver or the "nvidia" driver
from nVidia?

Also, what are you using to manipulate and/or view the images? What kind
of processor are you running?  Those can effect also the performance
(probably more-so than the video card).
