That's actually a kind of "fake" transparency for now. You'll notice
that if you drag your transparent terminal window over another window,
you'll still see the background and not the other window. It basically
just paints a tinted version of the background in your terminal
window.

The transparency that will be available in the other X server
eventually is REAL transparency. You'll probably be able to apply it
to any or all windows and when you drag a window over another one,
you'll see what's truly behind the top window - and not just the
background image.
