Issues with sound quality

I tried that, but attempting to test it results in gstreamer-properties giving
an error message:

Failed to construct test pipeline for 'ALSA - Advanced Linux Sound
Architecture'

Trying to play a song in Rhythmbox simply crashes it with ALSA selected.
