At least you got the DOMAIN name prompt, I've been trying to get Ubuntu
working here at work, as we want to shift some users over, but the only
condition, is that we can interact with the installed windows network.

As of yet, I have not managed to even get to any shares, I can get
nautilus to show the available servers and that's it, I did manage to
access one machine one, butthat was a complete waste of time, as all
files were read-only, then I tried it again and failed to even get it.

I've tried adding the domain the smb.conf, the thing is my Ubuntu login
is all one word, and the muppets that have setup the windows 2003
servers, have used 'Mark Cooke', so I cannot even map this on my Ubuntu box.

It's getting to the point of scrapping the role out, to our 50
workstations and sticking with Windows XP :(
Pity, as everything else works great, just MS sticks again...
