Do you have the BCM2003 firmware placed in /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/ ?
If not, you can get this firmware in the bluez-firmware tarball from
http://www.bluez.org/download.html

Copy BCM2033-FW.bin and BCM2033-MD.hex to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware
