Matt and all,

typing: sudo apt-get install linux-386
gives me the same error that it can't find package linux-386.
Nor does it find: linux-headers-2.6.8.1-3-386 as Can advised.

Do I have to be in a specific directory to start with?
I'm missing something... [I'm still a bit green w/regards to Linux]

Thanks,
Matt.

sudo apt-get install linux-386

and then try again.
