automout not working

Directly after pluggin in the device, can you please do the following
commands:

  dmesg > dmesg.txt
  lshal > lshal.txt
  mount > mount.txt

  pidof gnome-volume-manager || echo gvm has died

Can you please mail me the three resulting *.txt files (privately
please) and tell me whether the last command echoed the "has died"
message"?
