Command to remove or add startup scripts.  Example to remove the
Enterprise Volume management services you would do:

update-rc.d -f evms remove

Type:

man update-rc.d

For more information on the sue of this command.   There are some GUI
type programs that help you mange services but I didnt see any under
synaptic.  Oh well hope this helps.  Also you can get more information
