Good. So reading is fine, just burning now.

What application are you using? K3b? If you try to burn on a full cd-rw
with K3b it asks if it should erase it first. There is also some
explicit menu option, I am sure of it (I use the first way though, let
the app ask me if it cannot burn).

The debug is strange, check access privileges. What about "sudo k3b"
from command line? Burning app needs to be root, AFAIK.

This is probably the old way of doing it, Ubuntu and/or Gnome has
something nicer, smarter, user-friendly, but just give it a try.
