Adding items to the Applications menu

It's a quirk in GNOME:  You've got to restart GNOME for the new panel 
operations to work.  Just logging out and logging back in will do the trick.

Kinda painful, I know.  This is one of those things that GNOME should 
make as easy (if not easier) than KDE.
